Catharine Wood – Producer, Engineer and Owner of Planetwood Productions

CATHARINE WOOD is a Los Angeles-based composer/producer with a recording studio in Eagle Rock. With a background in audio post-production for commercials, Catharine engineered on the first iPhone commercial among hundreds of national and international campaigns. As a mix and mastering engineer, she has engineered on over 500 commercially released songs – including her own custom compositions which have aired on NBC, ABC, BBC, ESPN and more – both nationally and abroad. She is a GRAMMY® Voting Member and Producers & Engineers Wing member. Catharine currently holds a position on the LA Recording Schools Recording Arts Program Advisory Committee, is a Board Member of the California Copyright Conference and is the former Director of Southern California for the West Coast Songwriters organization. Her company, Planetwood Studios, LLC, specializes in producing singer-songwriters and providing engineering, production and composition services to the TV and Film industries. (more…)

NAMM – She Rocks Awards

newtop_9-29-15 (2)SoundGirls.Org will be at NAMM and be attending She Rocks Awards, which is hosted by The Women’s International Music Network. SoundGirls.Org has a tabled reserved at the awards. Seating can be reserved by volunteering.

The She Rocks Awards pays tribute to women who display leadership and stand out within the music industry. Previous award recipients include female industry leaders Sheila E, Colbie Caillat, Orianthi, The Bangles, Dinah Gretsch, Janie L. This year they will be honoring a wide variety of amazing women in the industry including Jennifer Batten, Amy Heidemann of Karmin, Chaka Khan, Leslie Ann Jones of Skywalker Sound, Mindy Abovitz of Tom Tom Magazine, Mona Tavakoli & Becky Gebhardt of the Rock Camp For Girls L.A. and Raining Jane, Chalise Zolezzi of Taylor Guitars, Cathy Carter Duncan of Seymour Duncan, Crystal Morris of Gator Cases,Pamela Cole & Leigh Maples of Fanny’s House of Music, Mary Luehrsen of NAMM/the NAMM Foundation, and Sujata Murthy of Universal Music Enterprises.

She Rocks Awards will feature performances, hors d’oeuvres and beverages, giveaways, a silent auction, networking opportunities and more, the She Rocks Awards brings together industry professionals, music icons, artists, fans and media for a one-of-a-kind event that celebrates women in music. Yes, men are always welcome too!

If you would like to reserve a spot at our table by volunteering (open to the first nine volunteers) please sign up for one of the volunteer spots. All volunteers will be admitted to the Awards. You do not need a NAMM badge to attend.

We can meet up for drinks after the awards or before. In addition Karrie will be attending NAMM on Friday and is available to meet with any members throughout the day, (she may be available Saturday – TBD)

You are Invited to Join Us

We are looking forward to the SSL Workshops next week at Rat Sound Systems. The workshops will be taught by Fernando Guzman of SSL and we are super excited to have Carolina Anton as well.

 

Carolina was the first woman to become SSL certified in 2013 and has mixed over 100 shows assisting on monitors for Zoe, a rock band from Mexico. Carolina is a specialist in sound design and optimization as well as a freelance sound engineer. She has worked with several sound companies such as 2hands production, Eighth Day Sound, Britannia Row,Meridian Pro audio, and Ocesa. She has toured throughout the U.S, Mexico, and Latin America with Zoe, Cafe Tacvba, Natalia Lafourcade, HaAsh. Carolina is also the owner of Hibiki Production providing services for Live Recording and Streaming.

We also have a few members coming from out of town, so this will be a wonderful time to meet other SoundGirls.  We will meeting after the workshops for dinner in Camarillo. So even if you are not attending the workshops, you are invited to join us for dinner.  If you plan to join us for dinner – please RSVP to Karrie at soundgirls@soundgirls.org.
