Most of us working in the music industry work with people we view as being overly competitive and are often viewed in a negative light. We all desire a workplace where everyone works as a team and gets along, where the environment is productive and enjoyable. Co-workers that are overly competitive can create a hostile and negative work environment. (more…)
Ottmar Liebert is a five-time Grammy Award nominee and has received 38 Gold and Platinum records.
Here’s a behind the curtain video recording of Ottmar’s 2015 east coast tour with Luna Negra at Capitol Theatre in Clearwater, Florida. Ottmar Liebert(Guitar), Jon Gagan(Bass) and Chris Steele(Percussion).
This is song was recorded, mixed and mastered by 23db Productions. KLOTZ AIS High End cables, Earthworks(Guitar), Lewitt LCT 450(Cajon), Lewitt LCT and Lewitt 340(Bass).
We do a lot of multitrack recording but this clip was recorded via a stereo recording. We later mixed and mastered the song and added it to cell phone video. Microphone all instruments close to get as much separation as possible in your mix. With separation all recordings can sound good!

Please note – this blog is just my observations and thoughts. It is written to encourage debate, ideas, and reflection on sexism within our industry. It is important that we look at it from different angles and perspectives. It is not written to suggest that we simply ignore it and move on – it was written to help understand the different views women have on sexism and how they choose to combat it. Would love to hear how you have decided to deal with it.
As I have been exploring sexism within the audio industry – I have discovered two opposing views from women. The first view that is echoed by women that are established in their careers is that – Yes, there is sexism but it has not hindered or held them back. They feel that they worked hard, often harder than their male co-workers, did not give up, and have confidence in their craft. They state that they rarely see sexism and believe that women have made huge strides and the industry is very accepting. (more…)
Continuing from last month’s blog on preparing for your first tour, in this blog I will be talking about how to build a technical spec.
The two most important documents that you will need for a very long time are; a very clear and complete stage plot and input list. The technical spec will most likely not come into play until the band is in a position to start carrying production or at the point where they can negotiate for what they want.
