Lydiah Dola

Lydiah Dola is a Nairobi-based Afro-fusion musician, composer, and guitarist known for her work as an “Artivist”, a term she coined to describe her use of art as a tool for social change. Her music explores African history, culture, and social justice, drawing inspiration from icons like Miriam Makeba, Tracy Chapman, and Angelique Kidjo.
A dedicated advocate for gender equity, Lydiah is a long-standing member of the World March of Women, a global feminist movement. Her commitment to the next generation was deeply shaped by her time at the Institute for the Musical Arts (IMA), a non-profit dedicated to supporting women and girls in music. At IMA, she served as a vocal coach for pre-teens for two years and trained as a sound and audio engineer. Inspired by IMA’s model of community-based empowerment, Lydiah is currently developing Pink Pulse Media, an initiative designed to create safe spaces in Kenya where girls and women can access the tools and mentorship they need to become technical professionals in the industry.
Lydiah’s career highlights include being named Most Promising Artist at the Kora All Africa Music Awards and winning First Prize in the SWAN Day (Support Women Artists Now) song contest, an international initiative celebrating women’s creativity. She has performed at major global events, including the Good Governance Festival in Nairobi and the United States Food Sovereignty Alliance National Assembly in Washington. Whether she is performing on stage or working behind the soundboard, she remains a powerful voice for representation and equity in the global music community.
