Cynthia Daniels – Taking the Leap and Living Your Passion

 

Cynthia Daniels is a two-time Grammy award-winning (‘02 & ‘11) recording engineer most known for her extensive work in Broadway musicals (The Producers, Flower Drum Song, etc.) and TV/Film (World News Tonight, 20/20, MTV).  Besides engineering, she has garnered a ‘07 Emmy Award for her work as a composer and music supervisor for the daytime series “Guiding Light.” Cynthia has worked with many renowned artists such as Julie Andrews, Alec Baldwin, Paul McCartney, Chaka Khan, Sarah Jessica Parker, just to name a few. Her Easthampton recording space MonkMusic Studios, designed by John Storyk, has been nominated for a TEC Award and is home to renowned productions such as Beyonce’s “God Made You Beautiful” and Randy Brecker’s “Randypop.” Aside from her thriving career in music engineering and production, she devotes her time to supporting emerging artists through the fledging independent label MonkMusic Records. We are looking forward to the SSL Workshops next week at Rat Sound Systems. The workshops will be taught by Fernando Guzman of SSL and we are super excited to have Carolina Anton as well.

 

Carolina was the first woman to become SSL certified in 2013 and has mixed over 100 shows assisting on monitors for Zoe, a rock band from Mexico. Carolina is a specialist in sound design and optimization as well as a freelance sound engineer. She has worked with several sound companies such as 2hands production, Eighth Day Sound, Britannia Row,Meridian Pro audio, and Ocesa. She has toured throughout the U.S, Mexico, and Latin America with Zoe, Cafe Tacvba, Natalia Lafourcade, HaAsh. Carolina is also the owner of Hibiki Production providing services for Live Recording and Streaming.

We also have a few members coming from out of town, so this will be a wonderful time to meet other SoundGirls.  We will meeting after the workshops for dinner in Camarillo. So even if you are not attending the workshops, you are invited to join us for dinner.  If you plan to join us for dinner – please RSVP to Karrie at soundgirls@soundgirls.org.
