Vivid Live is arguably the biggest annual event on the Sydney Opera House’s calendar. Part of the excitement is waiting to hear who will be playing. I was stoked to learn that the Pixies would be performing four consecutive nights in the Concert Hall. One Christmas when I was in high school I received a copy of Death to the Pixies. I almost burnt that thing out from playing it so much. From there I discovered two of my all-time favourites, Doolittle and Surfer Rosa. That excitement and enjoyment of sharing bands and music among friends on carefully made mix tapes was one of the reasons I got into sound in the first place. And now a band that seemed almost mythical in importance was going to be playing at a venue I worked at.
