The Good Gigs

There are days in this business that are really dreadful.  Days where nothing goes right. They can be full of technical problems and circumstances that make for the most trying of times where things are incredibly difficult. When you’re terribly exhausted, nothing wants to work, people and equipment don’t want to cooperate, or things just go so wrong that you start to wonder if you really know what you’re doing.  Days when you wonder why you chose this crazy life instead of something normal like a desk job so you could sleep in your own bed every night? Nautica Gigs

 

I’ve recently have been training as a PA Tech at a local venue, Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica. The venue is a shed with a covered stage that seats about 5,000. It is located in Cleveland Flats and is right on the river. Each of the shows I have worked on has had the same PA and setup configuration. With each gig, I gain more experience with the sound system, which allows me to build more confidence and independence. (more…)

First Out of State Gig – Take One!

 

In my last post, I wrote about how I got word that I’d be working at a corporate conference in Novi, Michigan. It was a two-day corporate conference for a prominent beauty line and I would be working it with my co-worker and veteran of live sound Rod Price. In my post I chronicled the prep for the gig
