Join the SoundGirls Bay Area Chapter for a special behind-the-scenes tour of the California Historical Radio Society (CHRS) and Radio Central!
The California Historical Radio Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of radio, broadcasting, and wireless communication. Housed in the historic Radio Central building in Alameda, the museum features an incredible collection of vintage radios, early broadcasting equipment, a fully operational amateur radio station, restoration workshop, Bay Area Radio Museum & Hall of Fame, historic recording and broadcasting studios, and exhibits tracing the evolution of communication technology from the earliest wireless experiments to today’s digital world. Guided by passionate volunteers, CHRS offers an engaging look at the innovations and pioneers that shaped the audio industry we know today.
This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the rich history of broadcasting and audio technology while connecting with fellow SoundGirls members and audio enthusiasts.
After the tour, we’ll head over for a late lunch or drinks at The Star on Park, located at 1400 Park Street, Alameda, CA 94501. Known for its Chicago-style deep dish and thin-crust pizzas, craft beer, cocktails, and relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to continue the conversation and get to know one another.
