EDM producers differ from traditional music producers in few ways. EDM producers usually create their own tracks and some even do their own mixing and mastering. While a traditional music producer works with the musicians on arrangements, instructing them on how or what to play to achieve his or her vision of the song. The traditional producers aren’t necessarily the ones who program the music or play the instruments. Usually, when the song is finished it is mixed (by an engineer, and sometimes the producer) and then sent to a mastering studio. Traditional producers usually work with instruments and musicians vs EDM producers.
EDM producers usually program the music, and mix the song. However, EDM producers do not differ from what we call traditional music producers. EDM producers still need to overlook the entire project; song writing, instrumentation, mixing and mastering. Sometimes they still need to call in musicians to play on a song. The differences might be how much technology and synthesis they use. Usually, EDM producers only need their laptops. They do everything on a computer. They might have synthesizers, but most of the work is done in the box. It is much more cost-effective and accessible this way. It can also be more personal. You make every creative decision, and you make it exactly how you have envisioned it. Where traditional music producers have a lot more interaction with other creative beings.
